Job Summary

HMS MEDscience has an opening for a Boston Public School Liaison with team teaching responsibilities. The Liaison will be responsible for the relationship between HMS MEDscience and partnering schools including Boston Public Schools to ensure delivery of high quality programming and direct services to all students. Teacher responsibilities include team teaching for HMS Medscience’s high school biology-based enrichment program serving a diverse population including Boston area students. This position will directly support the work that advances the goals and vision of HMS MEDscience ( This team member will work effectively within a culture inclusive of individuals with diverse backgrounds, styles, abilities, and motivations, and appreciate and leverage the capabilities, insights, and ideas of all individuals.

Job-Specific Responsibilities

Core Duties
- This position is responsible for all Boston Public School (BPS), Boston After School & Beyond (BASB) and BoSTEM grant liaison tasks for the HMS MEDscience program. This key team member will lead the relationship and business development of BPS, BASB and BoSTEM partnerships and manage the day-to-day relationship
- Understand BPS district organizational structure and roles of key administration staff to develop and strengthen existing relationships
- Keep MEDscience team updated on BPS structural changes, changes in district priorities, areas of preferred funding and use of preferred terminology to ensure MEDscience program aligns with BPS school and district priorities and expectations as well as the BPS school improvement and strategic plans
- Develop, write and review BPS partner contracts, determine funding source, obtain all necessary contract signatures and update Finance Director
- Lead person for completing and managing Partnership Application (3 year cycle)
- Monitor compliance with Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) requirements for BASB (student attendance, consent forms, survey administration)
- Complete 20 hour Certified Observer Training for BASB
- Responsible for BoSTEM grant compliance
- Develop supportive role with classroom teachers
- Strategize with MEDscience team to implement BPS initiatives into HMS MEDscience curriculum
- Recruit new BPS partners through various means including participating and attending “Recruitment Fairs”
- Subscribe to newsletters, STEM organizations and various relevant subscriptions to stay informed as well as disseminate pertinent information to HMS MEDscience team
- Attend targeted events and key meetings with BPS partners
- Ability to gather data and analyze program outcomes to examine strengths/areas for improvement and disseminate information to MEDscience team
- Extract data points for MEDscience Public Relations (PR)
- Debrief with BPS Partner schools (principals, teachers ) at the end of each semester and draft service delivery plans for following year
- Point person for managing MEDscience’s documentation of service delivery and signed agreements in BPS Partnership Portal
- Work with Administrative Coordinator to maintain Dashboard with explanatory notes as needed
- Collaborate with the MEDscience team to deliver a semester-long curriculum to over 50 participating local high schools, several week-long summer programs, and mini-modules
- Work alongside the Program Director and Executive Director to deliver interactive lectures, simulation cases, and debriefs, utilizing MEDscience innovative and unique program pedagogy aligned with program goals of critical thinking, problem solving, building teamwork, communication skills, developing personal health literacy and continued interest in the STEM fields/careers
- Work with MEDscience Program Director and team to develop MEDscience curriculum
- Assist in refining written materials for teacher training, pedagogy evaluation, and other documents needed for program expansion

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree required

Additional Qualifications and Skills

- Familiarity with the Boston Public Schools or other similar urban public school system prefered
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and a strong team player who enjoys working as part of a “lean team” - pitching in where ever needed
- Excellent written communication and oral presentation skills
- Excellent project management skills with proven attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple demands
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion training, curriculum development, and non-profit experience a plus
- Demonstrated initiative and flexibility
- Highly motivated self-starter
- General computer skills required

- Full Time (occasional meetings outside of normal work hours)
