Position will manage a transmission electron microscopy core facility, including client consultation and training, protocol development, equipment maintenance, inventory management, tissue processing, imaging and analysis. Candidate will also manage usage and billing records, service agreements, and serve as liaison with vendors and service departments.
Meets with clients to determine end product need and best protocol for handling a particular specimen or tissue.
Processes specimen/tissue for charge or trains staff on procedures. Oversees histology and imaging protocol from start to finish, reviews, and provides images to client. Provides detailed analysis available upon request.
Manages daily operation of transmission electron microscope and histology equipment. Troubleshoots with technical and/or facility support as needed. Ensures service agreements are current and preventive maintenance tasks fulfilled.
Maintains core supplies, chemicals, reagents, and orders special supplies as needed.
Ensures proper handling and prompt processing of clients' specimens or tissues.
Consults with client if processing needs adjustment.
Maintains usage records, validates service charges, and sends billing record to accounting liaison.
Core will be a subset of the NRI Neuropathology Core and candidate will interface frequently with the Neuropathology Core team.
Individual must have extensive experience in histology and electron microscopy.
Certification in Electron Microscopy and over 10 years in histology and electron microscopy imaging preferred.
High School diploma or GED.
Three years of relevant experience.
Certified Histology Technician by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) Board of Certification (BOC).
