Job Description

We invite you to apply for a Postdoctoral Researcher position within our Materials Science Division (MSD).

Basic Purpose: The principal focus of this position centers on computational studies of Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) reaction mechanisms, simulating electronic structures of oxide surfaces and designing ALD precursors for selective surface reactions.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Considerable demonstrated experience in performing DFT calculations of surface reactions and modeling of semiconductor surface electronic structures is highly desirable. Specific research experience with ALD mechanistic study is a plus. The successful candidate will join a large diverse multidisciplinary team with background in surface science, catalysis, physics, materials and chemistry.

Ph.D. in chemistry/chemical engineering/materials/physics or a related discipline. Essential skills required for this is position are substantial experience in surface electronic structure calculations and reaction mechanistic studies using quantum mechanical methods (e.g. DFT, TD-DFT, and beyond) and codes (e.g. VASP/CP2K, Gaussian, NWChem), with some experience with ab initio molecular dynamics simulations and scientific programing. A record of accomplishment of peer-reviewed publications on computational and theoretical research, as well as good oral and written communication skills are also desired.

The candidate is expected to think and work independently and conduct research in a highly interdisciplinary environment of chemist, physicist and materials scientists. Theoretical work will be closely collaborated with experimental colleagues so teamwork skills are essential.
