Job Description

The Applied Materials Division is seeking a Postdoctoral Appointee to conduct research in the development of high temperature ceramic membrane for steam separation and mixed matrix polymer membrane for oxygen separation from air. The candidate will carry out research involving ceramic and mixed matrix membrane materials synthesis and characterization, membranes fabrication, and permeation measurement.

We expect a successful candidate to have:

  • A recent (within past 0-3 years) Ph.D. Degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Ceramic Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of solid state ionics.
  • Considerable experience in ceramic synthesis, processing, and characterization.
  • Experience with electrochemical characterizations such as Impedance analysis.
  • Direct experience with structural characterization techniques (XRD, SEM).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • A high commitment to safety.

Additional desirable experience:

  • Experience in oxide ionic (proton and oxygen ion) conductors
  • Experience in gas permeation measurement.
  • Experience in solid oxide fuel cells.
